The large glass windows of the Swiss-made gondola offer a 360-degree view of Hakone, making it hard to believe that this place is only a few hours from Tokyo. The station on the way is Owakudani Station, which is a well-known hot spring area where you can still see traces of volcanic activity in addition to overlooking Mount Fuji. The Hakone Ropeway is designed to be barrier-free, both in the carriages and at the station. Along the way, you can pass by Owakudani and Laozi, and you can get a bird's-eye view of the forest between Soun Mountain and Taoyuantai by Lake Ashi. At the heights between Soun Mountain and Dawong Valley, the cable car is 130 meters above the ground. The huge crater can be seen below, which is breathtaking. As you get closer to Umako and Togendai, you can see the panoramic view of Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji behind Mount Kinabalu and the four seasons from the cable car.
