Basianshan National Forest Recreation Area

The Baxianshan Forest Recreation Area was once one of the three major forest farms in Taiwan. According to literature records, the mountain was discovered in 1911 and was named "Baxian Mountain" because of its elevation of about 2,410 meters and the homophonic sound of Baxian. The forestry mining history of Baxianshan began in 1917, and now the wood factory has been changed to Baxianshan Forest Recreation Area. Baxianshan National Forest Recreation Area is surrounded by mountains, and the top of the mountain can overlook the continuous mountains such as Yushan, Nenggao and Qilai. The forests in the mountains are green and there are many birds. The combination of water vapor and plants in the forest emits abundant anions and phytoncides, which are beneficial to human health. The Shiwen Stream and Jiabao Stream in the park converge. The stream originates from the deep mountains and forests. The stream is full of large and small rocks, and the rapids are everywhere. Baxian Mountain has beautiful scenery and makes people unforgettable. It is the best place for mountain climbing, forest bathing, bird watching and vacation. In addition to the charming natural landscapes, the tourist attractions in the amusement area are also very rich. The park has three forest bathing trails specially planned for this purpose. Among them, "Mengzong Bamboo Forest - Shrine and Primary School Ruins" follows the route to visit Taiwan's eight scenic spots selected as monuments, shrine ruins, and Jinghai Temple. The prosperity of the past can be vaguely seen, and along the way there is a large deep bamboo forest, the giant Xiaonan tree, and the mountaineering entrance of Baxianshan is also located here. The other two "Shiwen Riverside - Upstream" and "Downhill Step - Dam Area" follow the stream and are refreshing hydrophilic trails, especially suitable for summer.
