About this experience
Yosemite National Park's granite cliffs and waterfalls sit roughly a four-hour drive from San Francisco, and this day tour covers the ground for you. The route runs through California's Central Valley and past Gold Rush-era towns, with a guide narrating the history along the way. Once inside the park, you'll get five hours to take in landmarks including Half Dome, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls, with stops at some of the park's best viewpoints for photos.
Two of those hours are yours to spend exploring Yosemite Valley at your own pace. It's a long day out of San Francisco, but it's built to cover Yosemite's highlights without needing your own car or overnight stay. What to expect
The day starts with pickup in San Francisco, followed by a scenic drive through the Central Valley and past historic Gold Rush towns, with a guide sharing background on the region along the way. Once inside Yosemite National Park, you'll spend over five hours taking in the main sights, with stops at viewpoints for Half Dome, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls.
Two hours are set aside for exploring Yosemite Valley independently, whether that's walking the Swinging Bridge, following the Merced River, hiking toward the base of Yosemite Falls, or having lunch. After more photo stops at El Capitan and Valley View Overlook, the tour heads to a grove of Giant Sequoias for a 1.6-mile walk among the trees, weather permitting, before the drive back to San Francisco.
