Tour of Pompeii from Naples
About this experience
Step back nearly 2,000 years at Pompeii, the ancient Roman city buried under metres of ash and pumice when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. This guided tour takes you through streets and buildings preserved exactly as they were on that catastrophic summer day, offering a rare glimpse into daily life during the imperial era. Once a thriving metropolis of approximately 20,000 inhabitants, Pompeii was blanketed in volcanic debris over 6 metres deep, creating haunting imprints of the bodies and belongings of those caught in the disaster.
You'll explore the city's most evocative sites during a 2-hour walking tour led by a professional guide. Wander through the Forum, the civic heart of ancient Pompeii, and visit the Baths where Romans once socialised. Marvel at the vivid frescoes adorning the House of the Roofs, and see the Lupanar, one of the city's most revealing structures. Transport from Naples is included, making this one of the most accessible ways to experience one of Italy's most significant archaeological sites.

About this ticket
After meeting your group at the hotel at 10.00am, you'll head to Pompeii to visit one of the most fascinating places in Naples, thanks to the story of a professional guide. At the time of the Romans, Pompeii was a rich and very populated city, full of public and private buildings. One summer day in 79 AD, all of Pompeii and its approximately 20,000 inhabitants were covered under tons of ash and pumice because of a violent explosion of Vesuvius. A shower of lapilli deposited everywhere, covering the ground for more than 6 meters, wrapping everything and making imprints of the bodies and clothes of those who were fleeing. After about 2000 years later, you have the opportunity to discover the daily life of the imperial era and imagine the fear of the population before the city was destroyed. With a 2-hour walk, your guide will illustrate the most evocative places of the city, such as the Forum, the Spa, the House of the Roofs with its beautiful frescoes and the Lupanar. A visit not to be missed for anyone who visits this region of Italy! After the tour, you'll return to Naples at 1.30pm.
