About this experience

Komodo National Park spans a scatter of volcanic islands off Labuan Bajo, and this full-day speedboat tour covers six of its best-known spots in a single itinerary. You'll trek to Padar Island's panoramic viewpoint, swim at Pink Beach, and join a local ranger on a guided walk across Komodo Island in search of wild Komodo dragons. The afternoon continues with stops at Taka Makassar's white-sand bar, Manta Point, and Turtle Beach for snorkeling among the park's marine life.

This is a shared tour, departing from Labuan Bajo by speedboat with other travellers aboard. Hotel pickup is included within the designated Labuan Bajo area, along with lunch, snacks, drinking water, snorkeling gear, and life jackets. A guide and crew stay with the group throughout, and a national park ranger accompanies the walk on Komodo Island.

Wildlife in the park lives freely and unguided, so sightings of Komodo dragons, manta rays, and turtles depend on natural conditions and can't be guaranteed. Weather and sea conditions may also affect the order of stops or timing on the day.

What to expect

The day starts early with hotel pickup between 05:30 and 06:30 from within the designated Labuan Bajo area, followed by check-in and a safety briefing at the harbour around 07:00. The speedboat departs shortly after for Padar Island, where you'll hike up to a viewpoint overlooking its bays before heading to Pink Beach for swimming and photos. From there, the boat continues to Komodo Island, where a local ranger leads a walk through the terrain in search of wild Komodo dragons.

Lunch is served onboard or at a stop before the afternoon program continues at Taka Makassar, a white-sand formation ideal for a quick swim. The final two stops, Manta Point and Turtle Beach, offer snorkeling in areas known for manta rays and turtles, conditions permitting. The speedboat then heads back to Labuan Bajo, with return timing depending on weather, sea conditions, and harbour traffic.

Things to note

 • Wear comfortable shoes for the Padar Island trek, which includes stairs, inclines, and exposed sections
 • Bring sun protection — hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses — as much of the day is spent outdoors on the water and islands
 • Pack a swimsuit and quick-dry clothing for the multiple swimming and snorkeling stops
 • Komodo National Park entrance fees and government charges are not included and must be paid onsite
 • This is a shared speedboat tour, so you'll be travelling alongside other participants
 • Follow the instructions of the speedboat crew, guide, and park ranger at all times, especially on Komodo Island
