Sea World Ancol ligt in het Ancol Dreamland-gebied van Jakarta en herbergt duizenden zee- en zoetwaterdieren verdeeld over 28 exposities, waaronder 9 zoetwateraquaria, 19 zeewateraquaria en 4 open vijvers. De tentoongestelde soorten variëren van reptielen tot vissen en ongewervelde dieren, waardoor je van dichtbij kennismaakt met biota die je normaal gesproken niet buiten een duiktrip zou tegenkomen.
Het pronkstuk is de Antasena Tunnel, een hoofdaquarium met wel vijf miljoen liter zeewater waar je doorheen loopt terwijl het zeeleven boven je en aan alle kanten voorbij zwemt. Het Shark Aquarium is het thuis van zwartpuntrifhaaien, hamerhaaien en andere soorten, waarbij dagelijks een live demonstratie van het voeren van de haaien plaatsvindt. Bij het Interactive Aquarium kun je je handen in het water steken en vissen direct aanraken; een opstelling gebouwd volgens de wet van Pascal die het water in de tank houdt ondanks de openingen.
Dit aquarium in Jakarta is ideaal voor een uitje van een halve dag, waarbij je zelfstandig op ontdekkingstocht gaat langs de tanks, gecombineerd met geplande momenten zoals de voershow. Ticketopties omvatten gecombineerde toegang met Samudra en Jakarta Bird Land voor wie het bezoek binnen het Ancol-complex wil uitbreiden.
Wat kun je verwachten
Je bezoek begint meestal bij het hoofdaquarium, waar de Antasena Tunnel je in het middelpunt van de actie plaatst terwijl haaien, roggen en honderden andere soorten om en boven je bewegen. Vanaf daar zijn de exposities zo ingedeeld dat je in je eigen tempo tussen de zoet- en zeewateraquaria kunt bewegen, waarbij je onderweg de open vijvers passeert.
