About this experience

Experience one of the oldest and most scenic zoos in Germany. In the naturalistic facilities, you can discover more than 2,600 animals from around 250 species.

What to expect

As a modern, scientifically managed zoo, the Wuppertal Zoo places special emphasis on the welfare of its animals. That's why the enclosures are so spacious and natural. In summer, the zoo delights with its park-like character and its lush and old trees, which provide a lot of shade on hot days.

Experience hyacinth macaws and sun parakeets flying over your head in Aralandia, a unique open-air aviary, discover the African lions roaming around the largest lion facility in Europe, or watch the herd of African elephants, the most successful breeding in Europe. You can marvel at the king and gentoo penguins "flying" in an acrylic glass tunnel, and the California sea lions frolic around in their pool, where they show you their diving skills through the large windows.

At the JuniorZoo, our littlest zoo guests can get stuck in or pet and play with the resident dwarf goats. Kids of all ages can let off steam and have fun on the numerous, partly redesigned playgrounds. Kids up to 14 years old get into the zoo for free.
