About this experience

Tucked into Bali's cliffside Uluwatu region, this hands-on silver jewelry class trades the beach for a workbench. You'll spend the session learning how sterling silver becomes wearable art, guided by silversmiths who've spent years mastering Balinese design traditions. No experience is needed to design, cut, hammer, solder and polish your own piece from scratch.

Each ticket includes 1 to 5 grams of pure sterling silver, enough to craft a ring, pendant or bracelet based on a design from Krisna's gallery or a sketch you bring yourself. The studio is modern and air-conditioned, a quiet contrast to the surf and sun just outside, and sits close to Uluwatu's well-known beaches and temples. Traditional welcome drinks and snacks are included, and you'll leave with a certificate of participation alongside the jewelry you made.

Couple and single packages are available, either with round-trip transfers or on a meet-at-venue basis, so you can shape the day around how you're already getting around Bali.

What to expect

Your session begins with a welcome drink and snacks as you settle into Krisna's air-conditioned studio in Uluwatu. From there, a silversmith walks you through the basics of the craft before you choose your design, either picking from the studio's gallery of traditional and modern styles or working from your own sketch. With your design set, you'll move through the core techniques: cutting and shaping the sterling silver, hammering it into form, soldering the pieces together and polishing the finished result.

Throughout the class, the silversmiths guide each step so you're never working blind, even if you've never handled jewelry-making tools before. By the end, you'll have a finished ring, pendant or bracelet made from 1 to 5 grams of sterling silver, plus a certificate marking your time in the studio. If you've booked with transfers, your driver handles the return journey; otherwise you're free to head back into Uluwatu at your own pace.

Things to note

  • Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty or marked during the crafting process
  • No prior jewelry-making experience is required, so first-timers can follow along
  • If booking with transfers, check which pickup zone your accommodation falls under, as some areas incur an extra fee payable in cash to the driver
  • The studio is air-conditioned, so bring a light layer if you're sensitive to cooler indoor temperatures
  • Sessions involve close, detailed work at a workbench, so it helps to be comfortable sitting for an extended period
  • Couples can book a shared package if crafting together is part of the appeal
