It was built by the former lord of Hiroshima. It is a typical Edo period architectural style. It is said that it is also modeled on the architecture of the West Lake in China. "Shijing Garden". The Zhuoying Pond in the center of the garden is dotted with small islands of different sizes. The valleys, bridges, and pavilions are ingeniously arranged. It is very interesting to cruise through it, so it is also called a parade garden. Flowers bloom in the garden all year round, so you can experience the charm of the garden any time you come. In 1940, Shukkei Garden was designated as a national scenic spot. Due to the atomic bomb explosion, it was in a state of complete damage. Today, Qingfeng Pavilion and Mingyue Pavilion have been restored.

2026/01/31(Saturday) We arrived here early in the morning by JR shuttle bus. Upon entering the park, an auntie wearing a park vest approached us and asked in Japanese if we needed a guided tour. When she learned that we came from Taiwan, she kindly offered to translate for us using her phone and asked if we would like her service. Afterwards, guided by her, we toured the beautiful garden. With her explanation, we learned about the garden's history, the significance of each scene, and the best spots for taking photos. A story she told us left a deep impression on us. That was during World War II, when Hiroshima was bombed with an atomic bomb, the garden was almost completely razed to the ground, leaving only a stone arch bridge and a few ginkgo trees. These ginkgo trees still stand tall today, as if reminding the world of the cruelty of war. Finally, we took a photo with her and exchanged contact information. Auntie, Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories.

Starduster Liu
Funnythings
