This is a city for a specific kind of traveler: nightlife seekers who want Bangkok's energy with a beach attached, families looking for an easy resort base with day trips to Coral Island, retirees testing out long-stay Thai living, and anyone who wants maximum entertainment for minimum travel effort. It's not for people chasing untouched nature or boutique quiet — for that, keep heading south to Koh Chang or Koh Samet instead.
