Mount Merapiは、噴火のたびにYogyakarta北部の景観を塗り替えてきました。このジープアドベンチャーでは、その噴火が残した地形の中へと直接分け入ります。オフロード仕様のオープンジープに乗り、火山を背にしながら、通常の車両では走行不可能な溶岩地帯や岩場、川渡りルートを走破します。
このルートには、Merapiの歴史を物語る場所が点在しています。噴火の犠牲者を追悼するMakam Massalの集団墓地、火山活動の遺物や写真を展示する小さな博物館、エイリアンのような形をしたBatu Alienの岩層、そして2006年の噴火の力に耐えられなかった避難シェルターBunker Kaliademなどを巡ります。また、長年火山の霊的守護者であった人物の旧居であり記念碑でもあるPetilasan Mbah Marijanにも立ち寄ります。Kalikuningを抜けるオフロード区間では、でこぼこの火山地帯を激しく揺られながら進むアドレナリン全開の体験ができ、周辺の風景を撮影するための休憩も適宜挟みます。

体験内容
ツアーはジープによるピックアップから始まり、Merapiの噴火で犠牲になった人々を称えるMakam Massalの集団墓地へと向かいます。続いて、火山活動の遺物や写真を収めた小さな博物館を訪問します。そこからジープはBatu Alienへと向かい、独特な形をした岩層で写真撮影を楽しんだ後、2006年の噴火でシェルターとしての役割を果たせなかったBunker Kaliademを見学します。
その後、ツアーの最もエキサイティングなパートであるKalikuningのオフロード走行へ。溶岩地帯や岩場、川渡りエリアを駆け抜け、雄大な火山の景色を堪能するための停車時間も十分に確保されています。最後の目的地は、Merapiの故霊的守護者の記念碑であるPetilasan Mbah Marijanで、その後ジープは出発地へと戻ります。所要時間は選択したパッケージによって異なりますが、サンライズ、ショート、ミディアムの各プランで、火山の周辺を網羅するこのコアなルートをすべて体験できます。
注意事項
- ジープルートは岩が多く起伏が激しいため、つま先が隠れる靴と丈夫な服装でご参加ください
- ルート上には施設が限られているため、水や軽食をご持参ください
- サンライズトリップに参加される場合は、火山の斜面の早朝は冷え込むため、重ね着できる服装がおすすめです
- オープンジープでのオフロード走行は砂埃が舞うため、サングラスやスカーフ、バンダナがあると便利です
- Makam Massalやその他の史跡は地域のコミュニティにとって追悼の場ですので、敬意を持って行動してください
