You collect an empty EasyCard at the designated counter in Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 1 once you have cleared customs, then add whatever credit you want at an MRT station or convenience store. It is the option to pick if you would rather control the balance yourself rather than start with a fixed amount, and the card can be topped up at affiliated locations across Taiwan for as long as you use it. Any credit left at the end of your trip is generally refundable at designated counters, subject to a handling fee.
