Wonderfood Museum Penang
Penang Wonderfood Museum presents a kitsch, kooky and in-depth look at the city’s unique food culture with larger-than-life displays of Malaysian dishes. Set within a 1940s colonial building in Georgetown, the museum is divided into three galleries - Info Zone, Wow Zone, and Educational Zone. All of the hyper-realistic models are handcrafted by the museum’s owner, Sean Lao who uses Japanese food replication techniques.
The museum features over 100 exhibits of local dishes, ranging from street food to traditional dishes, presented in a realistic and interactive way. The exhibits are arranged in different sections, each showcasing a particular aspect of Penang's food culture. For example, one section displays the ingredients and spices commonly used in Penang cuisine, while another section features the various utensils and equipment used in preparing and serving the dishes.
Visitors can also learn about the history and cultural significance of each dish, as well as the cooking techniques and recipes involved in preparing them. The museum offers an immersive experience that allows visitors to see, touch, and even smell the exhibits, making it an excellent way to discover and appreciate the unique flavors of Penang.
Overall, the Penang Wonderfood Museum is a must-visit destination for foodies and anyone interested in learning more about the culinary culture of Penang. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and admission fees apply.

Wonderfood Museum is a fun place to see and photograph larger-than-life models of Malaysia's national obsession - food, in all its varied and delicious forms. If you have ever seen those ultra-realistic plastic replicas of dishes outside Japanese restaurants you will know what to expect here except that the models are mostly of Malaysian food and they are huge. The museum showcases Malaysia's unique food culture, drawn from the nation's rich multi-racial diversity. The replicas are beautifully made and if you weren't hungry when you entered the museum you will be by the time you leave.

入館料の MYR30(As of May 2024)は、ちょっと高いかな。
