Geneva: Zermatt Day Trip & Glacier Paradise Cable Car Option

This day trip takes you from Geneva along Lake Geneva into the Swiss Alps, arriving in Täsch before transferring to Zermatt by electric vehicle. The car-free mountain village sits at 1,620 metres above sea level, surrounded by 38 four-thousand-metre peaks and 14 glaciers, with the iconic Matterhorn dominating the skyline. You'll have free time to explore Zermatt's old quarter along Hinterdorfstrasse, where traditional Walser buildings—some dating back 500 years—showcase the wooden barns and stone attics of early alpine farmers.

If you choose the cable car option, you'll ascend to 3,883 metres aboard the world's highest cable car system, starting in an 8-seat gondola on the Matterhorn Express. The journey passes through green meadows and glacier-carved moraines before reaching Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. At the summit, you can visit the observation platform with views across the French, Italian, and Swiss Alps, explore the Glacier Palace carved into the ice, and step into the cinema lounge.

Both ticket options include round-trip coach transport from Geneva and the electric shuttle between Täsch and Zermatt. The cable car ticket grants access to all summit facilities at Glacier Paradise.

You'll depart from Geneva and travel along Lake Geneva before climbing into the Swiss Alps. After arriving in Täsch, you'll transfer to Zermatt via electric vehicle—the village is entirely car-free. Once in Zermatt, you'll have free time to wander the narrow streets, photograph the Matterhorn, and explore the old quarter on Hinterdorfstrasse, where wooden barns and stone houses reveal alpine farming life from centuries past.

If you've selected the cable car option, you'll board the 8-seat Matterhorn Express gondola and ascend through meadows and moraine landscapes to 3,883 metres. At Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, you can step onto the observation platform for panoramic views across three countries, walk through the ice-carved Glacier Palace, and visit the cinema lounge. After your time in Zermatt and at the glacier (if applicable), you'll return to Täsch and rejoin the coach for the journey back to Geneva.
