Il nome stesso fonde due concetti — cronaca storica e rievocazione tra compagni — e questo spirito permea l'intera serata, mentre gli ospiti si muovono attraverso scene storiche ricostruite e un allestimento in stile antico mercato prima di prendere posto per il banchetto.
Ciò che distingue questa cena da un pasto standard fuori casa è l'integrazione di performance nell'esperienza culinaria. Tra una portata e l'altra, ballerini e musicisti eseguono brani ispirati all'intrattenimento di corte dei Tang, mentre la sala stessa è decorata per assomigliare a una sala banchetti d'epoca.
