Metz: a guided walking tour of the city's key spots

I'll meet you at Place Saint-Jacques, right by the statue in the middle of the square. I'll tell you the story of Metz's origins right here in this square. To keep going with the ancient period, we'll head to Place Jean-Paul II, where you can check out the Saint-Etienne Cathedral from the outside. I'll tell you about the first bishop of Metz. We'll then head to Rue Taison, where I'll share a legend that's a big part of the city's history. Then, we'll dive into the Middle Ages and modern times by heading to Place Saint-Louis. As we continue our journey into the modern era, we'll head to Place de la Comédie, where I'll tell you about the Marquis de La Fayette. Finally, we'll dive into the contemporary period, starting with the Governor's Palace. We'll wrap up our tour in the imperial district by starting with Avenue Foch and its stunning buildings and gorgeous mansions. We'll keep going past Metz train station and the central post office, which dates back to the time of Emperor William II. Our tour will end in front of the statue of General de Gaulle, which is right in front of the train station.
