You're picked up from your Desaru hotel at 7:30am and birdwatching starts at 7:45am, with an English-speaking nature guide leading an easy-paced walk until the tour ends at 10:30am and you're transferred back. Binoculars, drinking water and a bird check-list flyer are handed to you, so you only need sun protection and a camera. The group is shared, and the tour runs daily.

The tour lasts 3 hours and runs daily from 7:30am to 10:30am; you book a specific date rather than a time slot, at least 24 hours ahead. Complimentary pick-up is included from Desaru hotels including Hard Rock, Westin, Anantara, The Seriya, Four Points, Tunamaya, Lotus and Sand & Sandal, plus other accommodation in the vicinity of Desaru. Walking is easy-paced; adult rates apply from age 13, child rates from age 5 to 12.

- Children under 5 are not suitable for this activity.
- Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
- Free cancellation ends 1 hour before the tour starts; after that the booking is non-refundable.
- If the operator cancels due to adverse weather you'll be notified and given a full refund.
- Avoid bright-coloured clothing; wear dry-fit or outdoor t-shirts, shorts or long pants, a cap or hat and covered shoes or closed sandals.
