The F1 Exhibition maakt zijn Aziatische debuut in Gardens by the Bay, Singapore, en brengt een wereldwijd geprezen tentoonstelling over de geschiedenis van de Formule 1 naar de stad voor een beperkte periode. Verspreid over zeven themakamers volgt de tentoonstelling meer dan 75 jaar van de sport aan de hand van iconische auto's, zeldzame voorwerpen en interactieve technologie. Je krijgt een blik van dichtbij op machines zoals de in 2011 kampioenswinnende Red Bull RB7 en de 2003 BAR Honda 005.
Naast de auto's vind je meer dan 25 racepakken, meer dan 50 helmen en meer dan 100 exclusieve interviews die in de displays zijn verwerkt, samen met interactieve installaties die de techniek achter moderne F1-auto's ontleden. Met race-simulatoren kun je zelf achter het stuur kruipen, en als je nog verder wilt gaan, kun je een Fastest Lap Simulator-ticket toevoegen. Hiermee stap je in een cockpit die is gebouwd om de zitpositie van een echte coureur na te bootsen terwijl je je eigen rondetijd neerzet op het Marina Bay Circuit.
De tentoonstelling bevindt zich in Gardens by the Bay, naast Satay by the Bay en op korte loopafstand van het Gardens by the Bay MRT Station. Een begeleidende app biedt een audiotour door de ruimte, dus het is de moeite waard om je eigen koptelefoon mee te nemen voordat je naar binnen gaat.
Wat kun je verwachten
Je bezoek begint wanneer je de eerste van de zeven themakamers betreedt, die elk voortbouwen op de vorige om het verhaal van de Formule 1 te vertellen, van de vroegste dagen tot de meest recente kampioenschapsgevechten. Beweeg in je eigen tempo langs echte racewagens, cockpits, racepakken en helmen, met interactieve schermen en technische displays die de techniek achter het bouwen van een F1-auto uitleggen. Archiefinterviews en zeldzame voorwerpen zijn door de hele tentoonstelling geplaatst en geven context aan de getoonde auto's en coureurs.
Richting het einde van de route kun je met interactieve race-simulatoren zelf een poging wagen, en als je het Fastest Lap Simulator-ticket hebt toegevoegd, stap je in een cockpit die is ontworpen om de zitpositie van een echte F1-coureur te evenaren voordat je een getimede ronde rijdt op het Marina Bay Circuit. De tentoonstelling sluit af met een filmische licht- en geluidsfinale bij de Pit Wall, waarmee de reis door de F1-geschiedenis wordt afgesloten voordat je terugkeert naar Gardens by the Bay.
