<p>Deze speedboottocht voert je in één dag langs drie van de meest gefotografeerde plekken in de Andamanse Zee vanuit Phuket: Phi Phi Island, Maya Bay en Khai Island. Door per speedboot te reizen in plaats van met een grotere veerboot, verlies je minder tijd aan de overtocht en heb je meer tijd om daadwerkelijk op het strand en in het water door te brengen, terwijl de boot door de kalkstenen karsts en zeekliffen vaart die deze kustlijn zo beroemd maken.</p><p>De dag is opgebouwd rond een mix van bezienswaardigheden en zwemmen. Je vaart langs Viking Cave, waar nog steeds vogelnesten van de kliffen worden geoogst, en Monkey Beach, de thuisbasis van een troep wilde makaken, voordat je Maya Bay bereikt — de baai die beroemd werd door de film The Beach. Onderweg zijn er speciale snorkelstops waar je zo van de boot het heldere water in kunt springen om sergeant-majoorvissen, zeeanemonen en soms zelfs zwartpuntrifhaaien te zien. De laatste stop op Khai Island biedt een rustiger tempo, met ondiepe zandbanken, een stuk strand om te ontspannen en nog meer vissen direct bij de kust.</p><p>Het is een lange dag op het water die twee provincies beslaat — Krabi en Phang Nga — waardoor je een echt gevarieerd beeld krijgt van dit deel van de Thaise kust in plaats van slechts één eiland.</p>
Wat kun je verwachten
De dag begint met het ophalen bij je hotel in Phuket, waarbij de ophaalzones Patong, Kata, Karon en andere nabijgelegen gebieden bestrijken, voordat we naar de pier gaan om aan boord van de speedboot te stappen. Vanaf daar vaart de boot tussen de eilanden, met eerst stops voor bezienswaardigheden zoals Viking Cave en Monkey Beach, voordat we Phi Phi Island en Maya Bay bereiken, waar je over het strand kunt wandelen en kunt zwemmen in het heldere water van de baai.
Snorkelstops worden ingepland rond de hoofdeilanden, zodat je de tijd hebt om rifvissen en koraal van dichtbij te bekijken. De tour eindigt op Khai Island, waar het tempo vertraagt — ondiepe zandbanken, een strand om te ontspannen en kalm water dicht bij de kust maken dit een natuurlijke laatste stop voordat de boot terugkeert naar Phuket. De tocht duurt van ongeveer 7:15 uur tot 17:30 uur, een heerlijk dagvullend programma op het water.
