The ruins of the Cascades Women's Factory is a building where Hobart female convicts were imprisoned and is listed as a World Heritage Site. Most of Australia's well-known prisons for female prisoners are located on the back of Mount Wellington, not far from Hobart's central business district. Women are held here as punishment, or await distribution. You can pay to see a show of Her Story, which takes place on the site of the factory and portrays the hard lives of criminals in a women's factory.
