Located on a 3-hectare limestone island 3.5 miles from the old port of Marseille, the Château d'If is a square fortress with a side length of 28 meters. In 1516, King François I of France came here, fully aware of its defensive value, and ordered the construction of a fort here, which is the symbol of Yves: Fort Yves. Chateau Yves has the advantage of natural danger, the defense is extremely tight, and it is almost impossible for prisoners to escape, and Alexandre Dumas is based on the experience of the only two escapees, Father Faria and Edmond Dantès. The world famous book "The Count of Monte Cristo", Château Yves is also famous because of this novel. Today, the cell in Château Yves has deliberately dug a passage according to the layout in the story. The Château d'If was originally an impregnable fortification in Marseille, and later became a national prison, where many princes, descendants of princes and nobles, Protestants, political prisoners, revolutionaries, etc. were imprisoned. The castle's conversion to a prison dates back to 1658, when Louis XIV, in his crackdown on the heretics, turned the Château d'If into a prison for Protestants and criminals. In the 19th century, after the French bourgeois revolution broke out, Château Yves was completely transformed into a prison for the feudal dynasty to suppress political prisoners. Since the first prisoner was held in 1580, the Isle of Yves has imprisoned more than 3,000 people over the centuries.

7 euros.intentar comprar la entrada ya con el barco y evitas la fila que se forma al llegar a la isla.....muy masificado....deberían de entrar más escalonados...o no dejar a todo el mundo entrar a la vez...por que hay momentos que no se puede mover en la zona de las celdas El castillo es impresionante,si historia sobre todo como prisión...es alucinante....personajes históricos y de importancia para la historia de Francia...estuvieron en sus muros....estuvo en uso casi 5 siglos....hasta la época de la segunda guerra mundial.....los grafitis en el patio central y en algunas celdas,son historia pura....las vistas pues geniales....cada rincón guarda un "algo"....de cada época....se estaba restaurando y aún así...era una visita que me ha encantado.... Lo único malo es la organización del barco....mucho cuidado.....

Si eres fan de Alexandre Dumas, no puedes perderte este lugar, es sencillamente increible, el hecho de llegar hasta aqui en Barco tiene una mistica increible. Hay visitas guiadas, puedes comprar el libro de Montecristo, y las vistas desde arriba del Castillo hacia el mar mediterraneo, son sencillamente impresionantes

Una excursión muy chula, en 20 minutos estás en ka isla desde el puerto viejo . El Castillo de if está muy bien conservado , fuera hay un pequeño restaurante para tomar algo Bonitas vistas desde la isla

Es una visita a una fortaleza militar de 1529, transformada en cárcel después. Está romantizada por el libro de Alejandro dumas por el libro "el conde de montecrristo", de hecho hay dos celdas donde han caracterizado las celdas de Edmon Dantes y el abad Faria con el hueco que hicieron entre las celdas. Para llegar a la fortaleza hay que ir en un ferry que tarda unos 20 min y que se coge en el puerto viejo (hay varias empresas que hacen el trayecto). La fortaleza está en buen estado y se puede visitar completa Se puede visitar toda la forteleza en 45min-1hora.

A pesar de que que cuando fui estaban restaurandolo es un sitio muy bonito y curioso, vale la pena visitarlo, tiene unas vistas privilegiadas de Marsella y las islas, y una historia muy interesante.
