What to expect
From the Goat Hill Observatory, you can not only see the leisurely scenery of sheep grazing on the vast pasture, but when the weather is clear, you can also have a panoramic view of Sapporo Dome and Ishikari Plain. The Hill of Sheep, the Birth of the Observatory, was once a research facility for the Yuehan Sheep Farm of the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce. During its heyday, more than 2,000 sheep were raised. Since then, there has been an endless stream of tourists. Later, due to the excessive number of visitors, which interfered with the research, it was changed to a tourist facility. Dr. Clark Statue There is an iconic statue at the Goat Hill Observatory, which is Dr. W.S. Clark, the founder of Hokkaido University and the president of Massachusetts Agricultural University. Dr. Clark is known for his famous saying "Boys, beambitious" (Boys, be ambitious!), and the statue's raised right hand, pointing into the distance, embodies the desire to look to the future and be ambitious. Watching sheep shearing To welcome the summer, there will be sheep shearing activities in the early spring, which are held together with the Spring Festival held every year during the Golden Week. Many Sapporo citizens and tourists come here to see this rare work scene. Other tourist facilities Around the observatory are the Sapporo Snow Festival Museum, Clark Church, and BlancBirch Church, where weddings are often held. You can visit them together.

I went here on a last-minute change of plan but turns out a very worth it spot. There's admission fee of 1000 yen for adults. it's very popular with kids i guess because there's a lot of small snowman. Also if you go in winter, they have a tube sledding site and a free foot ski course. You can free-rent the ski shoes and the staff also will lend you ski equipment. They also have restaurant in the area but they're closed at 3p.m

We loved the marshmallow BBQ and snow ball game, and lighting up the sparklers was romantic. All of these are free as a welcome to the site. It's a really nice place with helpful officers 😊

Beautiful and peaceful spot with green fields, sheep, and a great view of Sapporo. The Clark statue is perfect for photos. If you live in Hokkaido, the ticket is only ¥500 for adults — totally worth it!

From the top of the hill, you can see a vast and faraway view. There are several buildings and exhibitions to see around, as well as a small lavender field in the back. Despite the name "Hill of Sheep," there are only a few sheep to see. The sheep pens are currently undergoing renovation, I believe. The souvenir shop has good items, and it's a great place to sit, relax, and enjoy some delicious soft-serve ice cream.

Lots of exhibits to see, all in Japanese though. Had a snow festival exhibit and general history of William Clark. Also cute sheep and beautiful stained glass pieces! If going, would recommend bus during the winter time, pretty hard to get to the top and lots of slush, have to be on the same road as cars.
