I’ve been planning to visit for quite some time, and today was finally the day. I’m so glad I made it. In February, there are several exhibitions across different floors: 1st Floor • Taman Arca (Permanent Exhibition) • Sejarah Awal / Early History • Semai • Imersifa (3D immersive experience – separate ticket) • Adaik Suluah Nagari • Negeri Elok 2nd Floor • Misykat (Indonesian Islamic Civilization) 3rd Floor • Melawan Tanpa Gentar The exhibitions beautifully present Indonesian history—from the very beginning of civilization to more recent beliefs, ways of life, and even geopolitical narratives. The storytelling is arranged in a clear and thoughtful flow, making the journey feel structured yet immersive. The cultural details and use of space are very well executed. The stories start from the earliest eras and truly left me speechless. My favorite section was Sejarah Awal / Early History. Seeing the real historical collections up close was stunning. From the famous Gajah Mada inscription (prasasti) to the majestic Leang Karampuang prehistoric figurative cave painting, it’s incredible to witness such important pieces of history displayed so beautifully. I also love how some exhibitions are sensory—allowing visitors to touch, hear, and even smell certain elements, making the experience more interactive and memorable. There are plenty of staff members around to assist visitors, and maps are available to guide you. While there isn’t an audio guide for every section yet, all information is already presented bilingually in English, which is very helpful. The spacious entrance area makes a strong first impression, and overall the museum feels very well managed. I’m looking forward to seeing future exhibitions from the team. Truly proud to see Indonesian history presented in such an engaging and world-class way 🇮🇩✨

Pertama, it is really good place to spend weekend with your familg or by yourself. A lot of interesting pieces that compel you to explore more about Indonesia. The AC is decent to accomodate the tourist that keep pouring especially in sunday. I love the highe ceiling, giving a vibes of grandiose and magical attatraction for the tourist. The gallery divided into several parts which confusing without a guide. Lack of sequences signs, make everything in disorder and we cannot fully understand Indonesia's historic. Masjidnya cukup membingungkan. Tempat wudhu ada satu ikhwan jadi satu sama akhwat terus bingung mau wudhu dimana karena lokasinya terbuka. Parkiran motor juga membingungkan pula muter-muter buat pusing. entrance fee: 50k for adult

One lost weekend, I finally opted and stepped into the National Museum which is a massive, world-class reminder of the sheer scale and diversity of Indonesia. It is amazing place to be especially if you really want to see Indonesia in the bigger pictures to savour the beauty of Nusantara Sections that I love the most: • Faces of Nusantara: This gallery is a profound journey as we could see how distinct and varied the "Indonesian face" is from one region to another is a powerful reminder of our diversity. • Islamic Journey: A masterful blend of myth, fact, and legendary stories we have heard so long. It provides an amazing look at how the faith woven itself into the existing cultures of the archipelago. • The Treasury (Precious Stones): The collection of ancient artifacts and gemstones is mind-blowing just let you know that the craftsmanship from centuries ago is simply elite. So, if you’ve been procrastinating for years like I did, then just go as it’s the perfect, quiet weekend escape in the heart of the city. Best tip: Just take TJ -Trans Jakarta- 01, no traffic jammed is ensure, and just off at Monas, then you are there!

As an Indonesian, I am very proud to see the progress of museums today. The museum is beautiful, with a well-curated collection. They even have a playground for younger children. The explanations are very engaging for both children and adults. Congratulations to the government or whoever is responsible for successfully renewing the image of museums and making them much better.

The admission fee is Rp 25.000. The museum is clean and well-curated. As you step into the building, you'll be welcomed by stunning statues with different size. It's interesting to learn the history of each statue..the museum is huge. There is also a Japanese exhibition when I visit it. I've got the chance to see the kimono exhibition in vibrant colours and different patterns.
