About this experience

Tucked inside a glass biodome at City Walk, The Green Planet Dubai recreates a South American rainforest ecosystem in the middle of the desert city. The centerpiece is a 25-metre artificial Kapok-style tree, built from vines and figs and billed as the largest man-made tree of its kind, complete with a waterfall that keeps the air cool and misty throughout the space.

The biodome is arranged across four ecosystem levels: the Flooded Rainforest, Forest Floor, Midstory, and Canopy, each home to different plant, bird, reptile, and mammal species. You'll wind past sloths, sugar gliders, weaver ants, a toco toucan, and even a bird-eating tarantula as you move through the levels, with the chance to hold a python along the way. A spiral walkway and elevator connect the floors, while a rope suspension bridge leads to a treehouse with close-up views of the canopy.

As an indoor attraction, this rainforest experience works regardless of Dubai's outdoor heat, and its compact footprint means you can cover all four levels in a couple of hours. Tickets are available on their own or bundled with Ain Dubai for a combined visit.

What to expect

Once inside, you'll enter the biodome at the base of the giant artificial tree, where the waterfall and misted air set the tone for the rainforest atmosphere. From there, a spiral walkway or elevator takes you up through the four levels, starting at the Flooded Rainforest and Forest Floor, where you'll spot reptiles, insects like weaver ants, and nocturnal creatures such as porcupines tucked into darker corners.

Higher up, the Midstory and Canopy levels bring you face to face with sloths, sugar gliders, and birds including the toco toucan, along with dedicated encounter zones for hands-on moments like holding a python. The rope suspension bridge near the top leads to a treehouse with elevated views back over the tree and dome, marking a natural highlight before you make your way back down. A full visit typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours.

Things to note

  • Wear comfortable shoes as the visit involves stairs and elevated walkways
  • Choose light, breathable clothing since the biodome is kept warm and humid
  • Bring a hat or hair tie to manage the humidity if needed
  • Allow around 1.5 to 2 hours to see all four levels at a relaxed pace
  • Use the elevator instead of the spiral walkway if you prefer an easier route between levels
  • Combine your visit with Ain Dubai using the combo ticket option if you want to see both in one day
